Global logistic provider awards Datacraft with a network integration contract to establish and manage MPLS-based network across India
Datacraft, the leading independent IT services and solutions company in Asia Pacific, has won an approximately US$1 million contract to set up a secure network infrastructure connecting 118 locations in India for the world's leading logistics company.

/Computer News Articles/ - SINGAPORE, September 06, 2008 - In India, the logistics company recently expanded its operations and added more than 100 new locations through a strategic acquisition. The company now boosts a network of multiple pickups and delivery setup spanning 600 offices, 34 hubs and 592 depots and sortation centres and a fleet of about 2,000 vehicles. With such an extensive and distributed logistics network across India, an integrated, reliable network infrastructure was highly crucial to ensure seamless, on-time delivery services for its customers. At the same time, the network would be able to provide real-time, online services that allow customers to manage their shipment needs from online booking to tracking of their consignments.

As part of its strategy to streamline its business processes, the logistic provider also wanted to ensure that the newly acquired company in India is able to leverage a common IT infrastructure and applications across its numerous operations and exploit IT-driven business innovations to achieve economies of scale.

Datacraft India recommended and implemented a MPLS-based Wide Area Network (WAN) to connect 118 locations across India. Datacraft, through the MPLS network, will connect the logistic provider's data centre in Bangalore to 118 prime locations across India.

The MPLS backbone would incorporate built-in security and traffic prioritisation capabilities so that the new network can support voice and multimedia, as well as quality-of-service guarantees, network resiliency and any-to-any connectivity. Datacraft Global Services Centre would provide round-the-clock proactive monitoring of the client's IP VPN, with pre-determined threshold alerts to ensure that problems are detected before they impact service delivery.

As part of the project, Datacraft India would provide the logistics provider with an end-to-end solution which includes planning and design, project management and implementation services for a complete IP-based WAN.

Datacraft would also provide a three-year Insite Management service contract which includes a dedicated Service Delivery manager to oversee the entire network support management that encompasses weekly health checks and advanced real-time reporting via a dedicated service portal.

"In order to expand their business in India and manage their extended comprehensive network following the strategic acquisition, the logistics provider needed a high-performance, future-proofed infrastructure. Datacraft's solutions will enable the global logistics company to offer enhanced services to their customers and effectively integrate their time-critical express delivery services," said Sunil Manglore, General Manager for Datacraft India.

"This project has showcased Datacraft's strong commitment to support the go-to-market strategy of our clients from Travel & Transportation industry. Our commitment, coupled with our proven track record in providing, installing and deploying MPLS-based networks and ability to provide remote network management gave us the competitive advantage to win the project. The advantage offered by Datacraft Insite management service further ensures that problems are detected before they impact service delivery," added Manglore.
