2ndMe is to go Forward by Christmas
2ndMe, an online service for Second Life, is to move to Adobe Flash 11 and intoduce new features by Christmas
TORRANCE, CA, November 09, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- 2ndMe (or SecondMe), a fast-growing online service for Second Life residents, is to move its core to Adobe Flash 11 by Christmas. Due to this update, the overall performance and level of detail will rise significantly. Also this upgrade adds full support for third-party vendors in 2ndMe Store. According to 2ndMe CTO John Dare: "it's not an ordinary improvement, it's a milestone in our development, which will help us to bring 2ndMe to absolutely new level".
By this time, 2ndMe was successfully operating on Adobe Flash 10, but to meet growing users' demands it was decided to shift to newly released Flash 11 latest by Christmas. This upgrade would add details to 2ndMe avatars (like animation), provide hardware acceleration for better performance, and allow third-party designers and developers to add their items to 2ndMe Store. At the moment, this possibility is limited due to Flash 10 restrictions and the move to a newer platform would not only avoid this inconvenience, but also allow vendors place their items to 2ndMe Store faster and easier.
Launched in July 2011, 2ndMe team made a significant progress in providing Second Life users with all features they needed. In October 2011, the promised online photo-to-avatar conversion service was released. Due to high server load and complexity of rendering process, this feature isn't real-time yet, but it's fully-operational. Users can easily upload their pictures to 2ndMe, choose a conversion method (fully automatic or with manual finishing by a SL Pro), and get their personalized avatar. Several weeks before, 2ndMe website was updated and company's Facebook and Twitter accounts were set.
Besides minor interface changes, 2ndMe is to adjust its conversion algorithm to add export possibility into major OpenSim grids (like OSgrid, Avination, InWorldz and others), so more users could enjoy working photo-to-avatar conversion service and 2ndMe Store.
